Julia Bickham completed an Art and Design Foundation course at Suffolk College and followed this with a BA Honours Graphic Design degree specialising in Illustration from St Martin’s School of Art.
Since qualifying she has been a Freelance Illustrator for many books, magazines and greetings cards. Examples of her work can be found in Reader’s Digest ‘Good ideas for your Garden’, a series of multicultural ‘Big Books’ for schools including ‘Under the Bodhi Tree’ by Lynne Broadbent and John Logan, and ‘Beekeeping for Beginners’ by Penelope Hand, published by The Kitchen Garden (see links).
During her time as a Freelance Illustrator, Julia has, on a part-time basis, taught Printmaking and Illustration at Suffolk College, run her own drawing and painting classes, taught Art at a Young Offender Institution and, most recently, worked as an Outreach Tutor for children in care.
Her work has been exhibited during Somerset Art Week and has been shown at Yeovil Arts Centre, The Meeting House, Ilminster and at The 303 Gallery, Martock.
